Suggest A Good Ar-15 Scope

The strike eagles, atibal, and pa optics all share the same Chinese oem. I think for a lot of people they work great, but for my eyes on the 1x settings they all get this fish bowl look for me. Plus my PA scope had a constantly loose eye piece. It would just flop around.


I had thought about the vxr or the xv freedom 1.5x4x with the pig plex.

I was thinking about a new EO-tech for my build, but after careful consideration I have decided on a scope. The Strike Eagle 8 is, as of right now, the one I am going with. I get a huge discount on Vortex.

That VXR is a hell of a deal. They were well regarded in 3 gun for awhile. Before them it was the little weaver 1-3x. Now I'm sure it's the 1-6 style.

I like my 1-3 and 2-7 optics. They don't bother me at even 10 yards. I'm a both eyes open shooter at all times though.


Anybody have a vxr? Do the exposed turrets on the vx-r get knocked easily?

After a bit of research I went with a Burris RT6.
Illuminated 1-6x with a simple but usable reticle. Made in the Philippines with decent glass at the price point. $350.00 all day but you can find them cheaper. For another 100 the 1-5x xtr ii are on clearance from a few sights as well.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. The Mtac is what I went with. I have a Burris E1 that actually signted in a held zero better than my vx3. When I saw the Mtach pop up for literally 50% off, I sprung for it.

Has illumination, the dot is only .25 moa, 14 oz., and a 100 ft fov on 1x...and capped turrets!

Primary arms with ACSS reticle. I have the 300 Blk/7.62 one on my AR pistol. If you go more traditional then I'd go Vortex.

Mounted the Mtac in a American Defense QD mount today.

It's quality, illumination has a stop between every setting. The glass is on par with my Japanese scopes. On 1x it's a nice red dot type with the horse shoe. On 4x the reticle is small enough I feel like it can actually reach out and touch something. I can easily keep both eyes open on any magnification. The center dot is much smaller than the primary arms I had. It's too small for cqb, but that's what the horseshoe is for. The small dot should also make it more precise at distance.


The scope overall, it is much better quality than my Primary Arms gen 2 1-6 while being more light weight. The glass is much better, no fish eye effect on any power setting like the pa, and also the eye piece is not loose (normal for that model according to PA)


Don't get me wrong btw, PA is awesome company. My ADM mount came from them becuse they are shipping so fast. I just wasn't impressed with their scope.
