The progressive lefties should know their own kind want to stick it to their wallets. Read the last section of your NY state income tax form. They've always wanted to collect in NY just couldn't. So in addition to Internet sales, if I went brick and mortar shopping in PA for clothing, NY would want a cut.

(Like NY was going to refund sales tax on out of state persons leaving the state.)

everyone here, in the back of the head, knows this is going to happen. States are wasting BILLIONS of dollars and they are spending billions more on welfare. Most states are technically broke and they must make up money from somewhere. Internet sales tax is the perfect revenue source. it will literally bring in billions of dollars.

The Supreme Court to rule in States favor would be an encroachment upon their Soverienty... A State cannot tax transactions occurring in other States and must rely upon their residents to self report. Period! What next? California tax residents in Colorado because of their CO2 emissions? It is no loophole, it's their attempts to shift the burden of paying the tax from the consumer to the point of sale. This makes the vendors a defacto tax agent for the States. Can't see how the SCOTUS will mandate that vendors submit to States tax law where they do not have a presence or practice. Does the SCOTUS also then mandate foreign corporations to collect for States too on international sales? Is bullshit, but that said, the States have been salivating for some time over internet sales. The fedetal Gov't also has explored a Federal sales tax to reap some windfall from it all.

Bottom line is they are afraid of a tax revolt, ie, internet sales coming to an abrupt halt and the damage to local commerce it would cause. Amazon may be a major consideration in mitigating those fears... Their voluntary compliance is a problem!
