Survival schools

So, I've been thinking of taking a few basic classes, fire, shelter, etc.

I came across this website as I was searching around. Anyone taken a class from here? or have heard about them at least.
Hope this isnt mainly for kids. I dont wanna be the only dude in his 30s there while everyone else in the class are like 12 hahaha

What are you looking to get out of this? I'm a pretty outdoorsy person. I couldn't imagine spending money to be taught some of the stuff I've seen from survival classes. Things like debris huts, tracking game, plant ID, finding water, and friction fires aren't hard to learn. Go out and do it or find a friend to show you the ropes.

Basic survival like i said, make fire. shelter, where and how to look for water, etc. Im also thinking of possible inviting a few friends and or my fiance so, its more of a fun group activity as well as survival learning. Im also not as outdoorsy as some of you so I want to learn properly.

SAS survival handbook. practice what is written. Probably one of the better survival literature. cheaper than a survival.class...and do it on your own time.

Years ago I was looking at that same website, but most of the things they teach I already learned as a kid from my dad and uncles. But for someone who did not grow up out in the wilderness it might be a good experience.

I agree with Nirvana. I'd spend some time on YouTube. Dave Canterbury has everything you could ever want, Joe Robinet is awesome as well. Others are Bushradical, Girl in the woods, survival Lilly, TA Outdoors Bushcraft. It's all free.

Every park around me that has a decent amount of woods has a wikiup that shows someone was practicing. You can can do it without cutting anything down. I made my first friction fire in my driveway in the City of Buffalo when I lived there.

The link OP posted was on an episode of doomsday preppers. If it was me, I'd look at either Tom Brown or Derek Faria if I was on the eastern end of the state. If money was a luxury, I'd take a class with Cody Lundin just cuz, but desert survival isn't a priority for me. I'll probably eventually take some classes but not sure who. I wish Les Stroud taught.

I can't deal with Survival Lilly. I'm not sure why, but her videos don't entertain me at all. Maybe she's gotten better though. It's been a while since I've seen any of her videos. Dave Canterbury is great. Bushradical was on the show "Alone" with his wife Brooke. Another good youtuber, who was also on Alone, is Fowler (search YouTube for Fowler's Makery and Mischief).

2k reviews 4.5 stars don't lie. The book is packed to the hilt with stuff, from how to get water in a dry climate to starting fires to trapping to building shelters.

I say go for it ... $75 ... for a day. You can spend that much on a night out with the little woman. You will interact with like minded people . Get schooled a bit and even make lifelong friends . Hands on is so much better than just reading. Perhaps one is in a rut and walking into this environment can kick start you into learning more .. I see no downside to attending.
