So person A shot person B. Person C shot person A for shooting person B. That would be defense of another and would be legal. Person C is not allowed to have a gun and is now under arrest.

This case will be interesting. Convicted felon defending someone with an "illegal" gun. This goes back to the argument that if someone is convicted and has served their time they should get there rights back or if they can't be trusted they should remain locked up. I'm not saying this guy is a saint but if the article is accurate then he's just defending his friend and is now jammed up on a gun charge.
