Switched Lubricants...with good results it seems

For years I have used Break Free CPL on all my firearms. I recently ran out of CPL and had some Mobil 1 Synthetic 5w-20 on hand from changing my car oil. I used that to lube up my XDS. Today I shot about 130 rounds through it (all reloads) and it seemed very clean afterwards and still lubed up..appeared to be cleaner compared to shooting with CPL. The reloads were with the same powder, bullet and primer as before.

Wondering if any of you have experienced this when some lubes are cleaner compared to others or some hold more carbon compared to others.

I think as long as you keep things reasonably clean, it doesn't matter what oil you use. I've used everything from Hoppes, to CLP, motor oil (regular and synthetic), WD40, dry lube and even bearing grease. I haven't really noticed a difference.

That being said, I'm using Slip 2000 now, and it seems just as good as the rest.

I bet you could use old French fry oil and not notice a difference in performance.

It would smell awesome when you shoot!

Ive never used it, but friends have with good results. Maybe its time to switch.

Mobile 1 for me too ever since I read the other thread about it. Cleanup is easier and it doesn't seem to break down. Besides that, a quart will last me forever lol.

A good quality filter not only keeps it clean it quiets the random noises

as long as you dont use Hoppes, that stuff turns to glue over time!

I find if i leave too much oil on the gun parts (wet) it catches dirt and garbage. if i keep the gun on the dry side they stay cleaner.

Been using Mobil 1 for a while now with great results on everything I own, Airguns included. Real easy clean up.
