It shouldn't though. We see stupid like that and worse on a daily basis in NY. At this point, nothing surprises me about how money is misspent. A much better option would be to spend that on the cratered streets, or maybe even some more snow removal equipment and drivers. Cant tell you how many times I've plowed the street at work because buses and ambulances can not make it up the hill. FFS, hospitals and other emergency services should be given priority during a snowstorm. But we wont see a plow all night until 5:30am.

Wtf kind of city blocks do they have there? In NYC I could walk 7 blocks in no time. This seems like horse shit to me.

Pandering to the voters in the dark part of the city.
Syracuse does get some pretty significant snow and storms, but the majority of it is well North of the Downtown area where walking is easier than driving (parking, traffic, distance, etc.) Buses and Cabs operate all the time, and when show storms are that bad, everything is shut down anyways.

You (not @Acer-m14 ) can't make it to work, you just can't work here. I have employees that burn all of their PTO and sick days in the first half of the year, and if they make it this far, that first snow storm usually leads to their termination. I can usually tell in Q1, who won't make it through Q2/Q3.

Didn't read the article. Not sure it was snow related. It is not the governments job, or a responsible use of my tax dollars, to provide anyone's transportation, anywhere, for any reason.

It’s 7 blocks? People are required to shovel and if they don’t fine them.

Nope! Last years Syracuse City taxes included a surcharge for residential sidewalk snow removal. All property owners get charged whether or not your sidewalk is on the list to be cleared or whether you have a sidewalk in front of your home. I do not have a sidewalk on my property.

I worked in downtown Syr for over 30 years. Parking is a bitch.

That 7 blocks on Washington st, is a hike in good weather...is way past Salina St and Armory Sq, further to the west.
I worked across from City Hall, and most city workers are older women.
That st used to be the main line of the NYCRR up to the 1930's.

That shuttle will have to work every half hour, due to "late" arrivals. I have no problem with it; muggers will not like it.
