I used to hunt hunt with a guy like that. He was never where he was supposed to be, would wander all over the place during drives, etc. I trusted him enough not to mistake somebody else for a deer, but I hated hunting with him because you never knew where he was.
If you had it in your mind that he’s in one place and and this direction is safe to shoot, you had to worry if he’d pop out on you, etc.
Likewise, if he didn’t know where he was, he might think, “I can shoot in that direction....”

Not to mention he screwed up more deer drives than he actually helped with.

I don't care if the guy was wearing orange or not (probably not), but truly deer and people don't look that similar. You're not supposed to shoot at deer without identifying the target and going for vitals. Clearly the guy who shot had no interest in that.

On one deer drive, Frank was wearing his Sony Walkman's. That was the final straw. Guess that's why they invented fishing.

Just cuz the bushes move does NOT mean its a DEER!! people can make bushes move too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive missed deer before as I was too busy making sure it was not a person!!!! If I can t see and IDENTIFY IT..Im NOT shooting at it....

sad and tragic!!

A LOT of people will only hunt on their own posted land, or get permission for someone else's posted land..
Its a dangerous thing these days to hunt on state land. Too many idiots out there that wheel and fire when they hear a twig snap.
Deer hunting is declining across the country, and terrible stories like this don't help... bob
