My sister in Poughkeepsie got this text and asked me about it before acting on it. I told her it was a scam. Then I saw this article.

Funny thing. My sister does not have a pistol permit.

**SCAM ALERT** from local Sherriff office ..
Our Office has been receiving calls and walk-ins from pistol permit holders who have received a text message with a link advising they need to click the link to renew their permit.

Pistol Permit Bureau that they would not contact a permit holder via text. Please disregard the message and do not click the link.
