It has become a big issue in Tx.
I understand both sides.
To be honest not sure what is worse.
The Politicians passing laws regarding what you can and can not do in your own vehicle or some moron driving @ high speed and texting or on the phone.
I am leaning towards taking my chances with the morons that text and talk while driving.

Sorry guys but I'm actually for texting and driving laws. After knowing a few people who were rear ended in traffic by some jagoff texting and driving I'm a fan. My friends wife still have back pain and he has headaches constantly. While on my motorcycle I almost got pushed off the road by some geek who was texting/driving. Bad enough some ppl can't drive now add another distraction and its worse.

Not a big fan of Texting and Driving laws.
What I am a fan of is Ticketing for being distracted while driving. There are laws already on the books for all of that though.
We see Texters each and everyday swerving in and out of traffic; if they leave their lane, ticket them.
We have all seen the person with a dog on their laps in and out of their lane, ticket them as well.
Guy eating while driving and all over the road; yep, give him a ticket as well.
We should not be getting so narrow minded when writing and passing laws. Use the laws that are already on paper to enforce distracted driving.
Distracted driving is not victimless, driving is not a right, driving is a privilege, and with that comes responsibilities. Follow the laws or be cited. Seems pretty simple to me.

The issue is DISTRACTED DRIVING.
Listening to music, fine.
Listening to a message being read to you, fine.
Listening to GPS directions, fine.
As long as you have your eyes on the road and you've got reasonable situational awareness, do whatever you want. But, if you are too distracted by any sort of audio or electronic devices in your vehicle then turn them off. You do not have the right to drive two tons of metal at highway speeds into other people or their property.

Holy shit I fully realize that I am about to sound old as hell, but it wasn’t that long ago that we somehow survived without cell phones. I don’t understand why everyone is so f$&cking self-important that they have to constantly text or talk on the phone when they drive. News flash, unless you’re a doctor, paramedic, or police officer on your way to save someone’s life, you’re NOT that important. I’m sorry if I just hurt your feelings (no I’m not), but you aren’t as important as you think you are. Yes, I talk on the phone and drive thanks to my Bluetooth, but I don’t text and drive. You could end someone’s life in an instant, or your own, is that really worth it?

I just got an Android Auto head unit for my Jeep. My God! I love the thing. I have no need to text and drive anymore.

I have been rearended 3 times in the last 5 years,all women drivers,one I know for fact she was texting because my son saw it happen,the other two I suspect they were as well,fuck these morons who can't put their fucking phones down,I only wish the fines were higher for repeat offenders!
