Found this forum in a thread on Arfcom last week. Looked interesting. I like that there's more local activity here.

Run for the hills!Found this forum in a thread on Arfcom last week. Looked interesting. I like that there's more local activity here.
I certainly hope so. Lot of trolls there and they're really showing their colors lately. You'll find that General Discussion here isn't as retarded or asinine as GD on arfcom.
"this forum actually feels like a club or a clubhouse"DanMNY is right, there's more local activity here. Which IMO is one of the things that makes this place better.
The other thing that makes this forum better is the descriptive thread titles. And the fact that the site staff here is strict about that. On arf many of the thread titles are not descriptive, which can get irritating. Not only that, on arf, there will often be numerous threads on the same subject, which can sometimes get confusing and even aggravating. IMO
And like DanMNY already mentioned, there are a lot of trolls on arf. It has gotten really bad there over time. arfcom has gone downhill in a big way since Brownell's took the website over.
One other thing about arf is that the moderation is all over the place and very inconsistent. The mods seem to play favorites. Long time valued members sometimes get banned over something stupid yet the trolls get away with a lot of crap. The moderation here is much more consistent and fair.
Also, the smaller membership here on NYGF makes it more personal. Over time, it's almost like a person (a regular, if you will) gets to know another person or persons, even if it's in a virtual way.
Including the previous forum (NYG) that many of us migrated from, I've been here for 13 years. Quite a few members here have been here longer than that. Unlike arf, this forum actually feels like a club or a clubhouse, I think is the best way to describe it. YMMV
arfcom's GD section has its niche for me, but this forum is so much better. IMHO
