Great news! Camp Dittmer's shooting sports program will continue to exist!
In April, Council President Bob Confer wrote a column for the Batavia Daily News that addressed the detrimental impact that passed legislation would have on shooting ranges at scout camps in New York.
Thanks to action by literally thousands of people interested in saving scout camps like ours, bills A.8174 and S.6360 came to be and they were passed on Tuesday.
The bills add provisional language to the original legislation which now protects the shooting sports at Boy Scout camps, summer camps, high school clubs, and other shooting ranges by recognizing the value of supervision that we've always had in place.
Thank you to everyone who contacted their elected officials!
The shooting sports are an integral part of our summer camp experience at Camp Dittmer. We look forward to you putting our rifle and shotgun ranges to use this summer.
