I was watching a YouTube video when I came across this little fella right here. I’m assuming you guys know what it is and the legality of it. I was wondering how effective it is and would it be recommend as a EDC pistol? Also thinking about getting one for the wife. If this is not NY compliant I’m going to move within the next 2 years lol.

couple of general thoughts in no particular order and worth the cost of the advice (free)
1) 10 round mags, good to go
2) Dont know your wife and her skills. potentially a less than optimal choice (gun, not wife, well maybe wife too, but you are the one arming her) as the .45 in that package could be a snappy and girthy (45 double stack) handful and possibly down right unpleasant to shoot regularly
3) Im of the opinion that we are are currently hamstrung by magazine capacity and as such, I’m going to carry the biggest damn frame I can comfortably carry rather than try to stuff as many rounds as I could into a subcompact. This of course is driven by other factors such as working in a NPE, etc.
4) I’d still try to move.

If you want something in a similar vein, I would go with a SIG P938 over this but that's just me. A double stack 45 is going to be wide in the hand (I grant you its a fullsize pistol but I find my P227 a handful, largely just because of the width of the grips to accommodate the double stack).

Not knowing your wife's firearm skills and experience I'll assume she is relatively inexperienced and make a couple general recommendations. First let her choose what she wants. Took me too long to figure this out. While I ended up with some cool extra toys in the collection, once I stopped guessing and let her handle and shoot a bunch she settled on a Glock 43. Take your wife to a range that rents handguns and let her handle and shoot whatever she wants.

Many of the women I know who are occasional shooters (ie hit range a couple times a year, little to no training) have difficulty manipulating the slide of a semi auto pistol so don't rule out a revolver. Two pistols I'm aware of that are designed to be easier to rack/manipulate are the S&W M&P Shield EZ (9 and .380) and the Walther PK380. Worth a look.

If racking the slide is not an issue for her than she has a wide open field to choose from. How she plans to carry will likely drive the decision.

Why not get her a Sig P365? 10+1, smaller, and the width is 1 inch rather than an inch and half. They have worked out the kinks and it is pretty reliable now. A .45 does nothing extra than a 9mm will do in a body. This has been proven. It may expand a little bit more but we are talking tenths of a inch here. A body’s vital organ isn’t going to care if if struck with 9mm projectile that is .683 in diameter or a .45 projectile that is .782 in diameter. The result would be equal.

External hammers poke you in the gut and or your side jelly rolls depending on where you carry when you sit. I experienced lots of pain when I was a 1911 carrier. I used to wrap tissue paper between my skin and the hammer and that would help a little.

Why would you ever even consider getting a gun for your wife that she didn't choose herself ? This always confounds me when I see it.

If she actually wants to carry a gun, let her determine what works for her, get what she wants, and just be happy that she wants to.

That looks like a nice gun. I do agree with the other guys that it might not be a great gun for your wife. My cousin who’s 22 shot my 3.5” para ordnance .45 and she hated the recoil. So bad she wouldn’t shoot more than a mag. She’s not a wimp either. She’s an Erie county sheriff and she shot my 3” 9mm like a champ.
