Brutal: The 2017 Obamacare Premium Hikes Have Officially Arrived
I'm still waiting for the $2500 Obama said I am getting.

Those not working thank you for contributing....oh wait, no they don't.my premium is just over $20k/yr and i cant afford to go to the doctor due to the outrageous deductables. but someone who doesnt work gets top tier care.
thanks, obama.
It's pretty screwed up. Between my company and me I'm paying close to $20k/year for the family. My deductible is also outrageous such that I just avoid going to the doctor--particularly at this point in the year where there is no chance of hitting deductible. If I had already reached it through some surgery I would have no qualms about it, but now I'm avoiding it. And although I contribute over $5k/year to HSA it's currently sitting at about $500 because just a couple of tests hit a grand each and then the kids' braces chew the rest up.my premium is just over $20k/yr and i cant afford to go to the doctor due to the outrageous deductables. but someone who doesnt work gets top tier care.

I've said it before I don't know how people on lower incomes even do any of this. We make good money and health care is still exorbitant to me.
The HSA thing is a huge damn scam anyway. I am looking at benefits now for 2017--just opened the packet 5 minutes ago. Last year I was deciding between a high deductible low-monthly premium plus hsa vs a low deductible high premium. I looked at multiple scenarios, from whether we used an unlikely minimum of $5k in health care, up to 10k, 15k, 20k, 30k, then just going stratospheric and the difference in all of these was about a grand out of pocket. It is merely an illusion of choice. If we use damn near no health care at all I find a slight benefit to it, but once we make just a few visits we blow all the savings. Plus, the HSA is tapped out at a "family" level; it's not like having a family of ten even lets you contribute more per year than having a family of three.yeah mine is a family plan too. wifey doesnt work (if you can call taking care of two kids and a house "not working") because she'd bring home next to nothing after child care... and we cant even afford to max out our hsa. we'd be better off with no insurance.. but oh wait theres a tax for that too.
