I was in the Bronx summer of 1977. Merchant ship. Heatwave instigated a power draw on the grid and it overloaded. Transformer went out and inadequate system controls caused a cascade failure of all of NYC. We self generated power so no issues. Watching all of Manhattan black was spooky. You could see automobile headlights and that was all. Daytime okay, nighttime all the opportunistic boogeymen came out. Lasted maybe 72 hours.

Great video, but I just wonder how these preps are gonna work in an urban environment. IE, solar generator...even that would attract attention if your neighbors catch a glimps of it or if they happen to notice you are able to power certain things while they are not. In some places there just isn't enough distance between you and your neighbors to conceal these things.
I liked his simple tips to prevent non-prepper neighbors from discovering you have power. Just draw down the shades and don't cook foods that smell! Not sure that's gonna do the trick. He downplays the simple solution of reaching for a gun but my guess is that will deter more people than drawing the shades.
