Climate change communists keep talking about electrifying our economy because it is the only way to conceivably get to zero or near zero carbon emissions. Beege wrote a must-read post on this yesterday. Must. Read.
Now I have no problem, in principle, with reducing the carbon footprint of the economy, as long as it can be done with inexpensive, abundant, and reliable power sources that perform the job as well or better than fossil fuels. And that is the promise that is made by the advocates of electrifying our economy.

Perhaps someday that dream can be achieved, but that day is way way off in the future. In the here and now a fossil fuel-free future isn’t even a pipe dream. It’s a nightmare.

Earlier today I wrote about the reasons why the Biden administration is pushing for the elimination of natural gas stoves and the dangers associated with that move, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. The activists pushing for uber-electrification (I won’t call them climate alarmists, because I suspect many of them aren’t actually alarmed, but play-acting for effect) absolutely know that our current and near-future electrical generation and transmission cannot conceivably produce enough power to keep our economy going.

They simply don’t care. Or rather, they care, but the immiseration and impoverishment of millions of Americans is a feature, not a bug of these policies.
In recent months the electrical grid has sagged and even broken under the strain of electrification. Heat pumps in the South drew more power than was available due to cold weather, and of course California is utterly incapable of delivering enough electrical power to its citizens reliably.

As they push for 100% electrification of transportation, they also mandate energy policies that create shortages that will strand people at home, without air conditioning or heat, and of course with the lights out. This is as predictable as a sunrise.

Dont be fooled. Climate change is happening. Just because the fact has been hijacked into a socio/political movement doesnt mean the fact doesnt exist. Unfortunately the ‘movement’ has made it impossible to have constructive debate and find a fair path to a solution. It is now and has always been up to individuals to take action. Unfortunately that rarely works out. Convenience is king, and that will be our downfall.

Weeelllllll...some of these morons, like Bill Gates, want to reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.

Even if it is up due to "human activity", I don't see people dropping like flies.

If you want it reduced, plant a metric fuck-ton of trees, increase green spaces, stop strip mining the earth to get minerals for ludicrous "electrification" schemes that generate huge amounts of unrecyclable dreck - like lithium car batteries and wind turbine blades.

Build nuclear plants right fucking now, and put more money into nuclear fusion research.

All plants need CO2 to live and, as a benefit, they give off O2, which most earthly creatures need to survive.

It amazes me that "people", in general, seem to readily buy into the idea that they are so powerful that what "we" do is able to irreparably damage the larger "ecology" of the earth.

People are nothing compared to the power of the sun, or the damage done to the environment by natural phenomena, especially volcanoes.

It's just arrogance...more exactly hubris...to think "we" can exert control over a system that has existed for eons.

Don't mess with Mother Nature - she's a bitch.

"Mother Nature" does not exist.

The Earth is NOT a conscious, sentient being.

Nothing matters except what is best for Human Beings.

Many studies indicate a warmer climate, a more constant and less mecurial climate, is what would be best.

Historical records indicate a denser atmosphere helps this.

Moderating the Suns impact would include orbital mirrors and shields, to control sunlight.

All this is achievable without politically driven hysteria.

And, of course, safe, modern Nuclear Power should fuel it all.

Nothing will change. They will simply move the goalposts in their never ending quest to subjugate the entire world.
What is being preached right now will never "fix" their so-called "climate change". All it does is redirect enormous amounts of resources and money into their control leaving the rest of us as paupers. And slaves.

The only logical conclusion to their ridiculous "climate change" diatribe is complete elimination of Homo sapien as a viable species.
Every argument they make can easily be boiled down to "fewer humans". And the more they screech for us to obey the more I hear "kill all humans except us".

So if they want fewer humans my response is "you first".

Well I guess I could turn that around on you. Thats always been my basic philosophy on environmental issues. If there is a chance that something is wrong it shoud be addressed because once the damage is done, its done. To my way of thinking the free market is too slow to get the ball rolling on these issues, simply because there is too much “dradg” there. The drag is caused by motivated sel-interest, which means the free market wont respond in time or without prodding. The free market works but isnt perfect. Generally speaking environmental issues are outside the aweet spot that the free market is meant to operate within because they are globala and unreversible.

I do however think that the marketplace can play a huge role in solving environmental issues, we just cant depend on it to take the swift initial action that is needed. Just my biased 2-cent.
