The Eotech defective sights fallout

Before this forum opened and in the old forum i made a post about how my 512 with not much use began to fail and by my guess pure "coincidence" around that same time L-3 Communications was in hot water for selling defective sights.

I returned mine back then. It took some time but i recieved a FULL retail price refund plus shipping cost for my 512.
Today checking my mail i got this letter.

I loved my 512 too bad it just failed out of the blue but would like to buy another. Have any of you experienced issues with current models purchased say in 2017?

PS not buying from their sight might use the 22 bucks for a hat or something.

I have the 558. Bought it several years ago with no problems. Then again I don't run my guns all that hard. I got my settlement in the mail the other day. Since my sight was working fine I opted for the $50. I also got the same letter for the $22.50 credit. Not sure if I intend on using it or not. I would be interested in buying another sight assuming the problems were worked out.

I tossed my voucher in the trash. I got full retail for mine and don't plan on ever buying anything from them again.

I returned my sight and got a refund as well. Strange that they would send a voucher (I understand they were forced to). I'ts almost as if they're trying to recoup their losses. And I'm sure they're huge. Besides tainting their reputation.

I never liked their short battery life. I like to leave my 5 year battery optics always on and change the battery every 3 years.
