I was just sitting here thinking on this. I keep hearing the MSM go on and on about the "gun lobby" and how the politicians are bought by them. I never hear about the anti gun lobby/gun control lobby. The so called "gun lobby" is supposedly just an arm of firearm manufacturers according to the media. While I am sure that manufacturers do contribute to these organizations, I believe that a large part of their funding comes from the average citizens. The NRA, GOA, SAF, and others are largely funded by just regular individuals. Or am I incorrect? Wouldn't this be more in line with the idea of the people petitioning the government for redress of grievances?
On the other hand, I have never heard of anti gun groups being referred to as the "anti gun lobby" much less vilified by the MSM (FOX news non-withstanding). These groups such as Moms Demand, Giffords, Everytown, etc. are never mentioned as lobbyists who "donate" to the gun grabbing politicians. It is my understanding is that these groups are largely funded by elite wealthy individuals (aka Bloomberg), globalist interests, and large corporate entities. This would seem out of line with the intent of our Constitution.
I am no fan of the lobbying setup which is no more than the bribing of our elected officials. I also get it that the left and right are both wings on the same bird. I know that the MSM is a compromised propaganda machine. I am just curious about everyones thoughts on this, and how we can possibly combat it.
The obvious removal of lobbying is the cure, but the hogs at the trough will never cut themselves off. I have often said that for true reform, money must be removed from the political forum.
