Humane Society Blasts Donald Trump Jr. for This Upcoming Hunting Trip

Now, no one has been saying that the hunting expedition will actually put the prairie dog population in any danger. This is mostly a confluence of two things.

Firstly, the fact that nobody on the left likes either hunting or the Trump family, and this gives them an opportunity to bash both. Secondly, this is all about visibility — the fact that Donald Trump Jr. makes an attractive target to get attention.

ps. The Humane Society really doesn't do anything. They are more like a club or Social Organization that raises money for itself to have more fundraisers and a place for donors to walk the red carpet.

Our local Humane Society used to be the absolute worst thing for animals.
Once they reached capacity, they turned away hundreds of animals in need.
A few years ago we found a sweet adult cat that we tried to find a home for. The only possibility we had was the HS. They told us that they were full and could not take in anymore cats. They said we would be put on a waiting list. After 2 months we called back, they were still full. I asked what we could do, they had no suggestions. Soooo, I told them I was going to drowned the cat, the lady hung up on me.
Of course I would never do that, I like animals way more than people. We still have that cat a decade later, shes the best cat and im super happy we kept her.
Also, they had no investigation department. If you knew of an abuse case, they said to call the police. The police would do nothing and the abuse would continue.
Because of the HS my GF and I started rescuing and placing pets. We had over 70 animals at one point with ZERO monetary help from anyone except our family and friends.
A few years ago the SPCA took over our local HS, what a difference. Now they have several facilities to accommodate more animals and they have a team of cruelty investigators on the payroll.
Every 6 months we donate a palate of dog food and one of cat food. We also donate blankets and other necessities.

Im not a huge fan of the SPCA but its all there is.
Local, small animal rescues are fine but have ZERO authority or knowledge to investigate cruelty.
Some may say, "screw the dogs and cats, they are just animals!!" But if youve seen some of the crap I have, you would be appalled at how cruel people can be.
Of cpurse im the type of person that if I saw a woman being beat and a dog being beat, id save the dog first, thats just me.
I dont know about othe SPCAs but our local one does good work finding homes and helping abused animals.

I've got no issue with local shelters that operate under the SPCA or HSUS umbrella.

Not all shelters are affiliated with those two groups though. Both my dogs came from a local shelter that isn't affiliated with either the SPCA or HSUS. I do have an issue with those organization as a whole being anti-hunting though. I've donated money to the shelter where my dogs came from. I love animals as much as the next person, and have had all sorts of animals as pets, but I still wouldn't donate to those organizations. I'm not even sure I would donate to local shelters under their umbrella.

If you want to find out if a charity is worth a damn, tell them that you don't have any money but would like to donate some of your time.

An honest charity will have no end of work for you. The shams don't want anything that can't be deposited in a bank.

You may prefer to donate money rather than time, and it may be more helpful for the charity, but this is a good test.

Oh, if they ask you to man a phone and beg people for money, guess which category that falls into....
