I remember a few years back , I think 2009 after the crash Ben Bernanke who was the head of the federal reserve was asked about the deficit in a congressional hearing , he said , If congress continues to borrow money at the present rate by 2028 the debt will become unsustainable. He said something about not being able to make the interest payment of the debt .

The US is a county of huge numbers. The debt is only a problem if other countrys think we can't pay it back. Our GDP is around 20 trillion which dwarfs most countries. Our GDP to debt ratio isn't bad when you look at other countries. Im don't know much about economics but I try to look at things logically and keep politics and news out of it I could be wrong.
