Congratulations Gun Owners, we’re making it happen! The National Instant background Check System (NICS) for October 2019, showed record levels of background checks. In essence, the firearms community is buying more guns than ever before. Regardless of how you look at the NICS background check system, in my view, more gun ownership is always a good thing.

The previous record was in October 2016, during the election. Back then there were several fears present in the gun community which made for some record sales months. Thankfully events turned out in the favor of the gun community but the sudden realization that gun rights might have taken a massive hit was enough to set a record for gun sales in October. That October set the all-time record for NICS background checks for that month with a whopping 2,333,539 total background checks.

A Runnings store just opened in our area.
Before they came the only places to buy firearms was small overpriced mom and pop gun shops and Walmart.
Talking to the guy at the gun counter, he says they have sold "hundreds" of guns in the 1 month they have been open.
He says they cant keep handguns in stock.
Soon after, I was at the PP office and, just making small talk I asked her if they have been busy.
She said they have processed many more guns recently than usual.
I told her what the Runnings guy said and she said thats where most of the guns have been purchased.

The article also states that close to halve that number were rechecks and permit checks and not guns sold.
Article fails to mention that you can purchase up to 5 items on one NICS and that many states do not require a NICS for each and every purchase,, IE: You are exempt if you have a Pistol Permit or used guns can be sold privately without a NICS.

I was in the permit office not too long ago and the place was busier than I’ve seen it in quite awhile. There were even a few women there waiting to get their pistol permit paperwork. I asked the clerk what was going on and she claimed it was like that all month.
