The possible next Army rifle optic. Prototype

Looks like Vortex has been awarded a contract to provide the army with a prototype for their next gen sighting system.

Looks to be a Vortex 1-8x first focal plane (not you $400 vortex scope, go look up the Vortex Gen 3 Razor) with a digital overlay system.

It appears that the optic will also be able to function as well a standard LPVO if the batteries die.

Add this to the Marines adopting the Trijicon VCOG 1-8x

Oh as for the size here is the new Razor HD gen iii 1-10x which optic wise is barely larger than the 1-8x

I saw a video from shot show 2020 I believe on Inrangetv that had to do with a HUD (heads up display) that the user wears.

And it will display all other users and their, for lack of better terms, stats

So I'm thinking this optic is similar to this that would be a leap forward

If you want to see the future of scopes, just look at the digital night vision scopes. Future scopes will have a microprocessor inside the scope. Think an advanced smart phone.

It will give read outs and real time info. Things like weather, global positioning, etc. Along with this it will give ballistics read outs and possibly auto correct for distance.

It will give central command the ability to watch and record combat.

UM Yeah, the "soldier in the field" really needs a ballistic calculator for a 5.56 because of the GREAT range that round has!
I can see some use for the range finder but not for each and every solder.
