Those with homebuilt and 80% guns get hit hard with this, they will HAVE to register it if they want to fix a part or change something since the stores will not sell them the parts directly and they would have to use them to install it, thus making the store register it.

Yes but keep in mind it’s not just 80% lowers that will get “registered” a gunsmith needs to log every gun brought in and out. There’s also something I think about reporting these logs to the state. Therefore this is a defacto state registration.

There's no need to send your guns away or hide them. No need to have your guns sent to a gunsmith either. This has the enforcement potential of safe storage. You are all big boys and girls and should be able to figure out a way to get parts without having them sent directly to your house. And I'm sure just like ammo, some companies will continue to ship to NY.

Maybe maybe not. If it’s a law prohibiting the shipment of parts to NYS they will not. The ammo thing is pretty ambiguous and hasn’t gone into effect since the background check and database are on the back burner.
Maybe some private individuals will ship to NYS but not retailers. The AG of nys will have their businesses through fines, penalties, and arrests.
Also it’s all well and good to say well just drive to another state to get your parts. Ok sounds good but how many gun retailers have repair or replacement parts. AR-15’s yes and possibly 1911 parts yes but how many firing pins for glocks or recoil spring assemblies for glock have you seen on a store retail shelf? Me none and they are the most popular gun in the world. If they don’t have those parts good luck finding anything else on a retail shelf. Also why would they order it for you. They will say just order it from brownells or whatever because it’s not worth them handling it.

Carpe Diem. Like @GOPerfect mentioned in the body armor thread, the time is now. If anyone really feels like this could become a thing, then don't get caught with your pants down. Buy all the springs, pins, tubes barrels stocks etc you think you may one day need. The government just gave everyone "free" money. With that money most people can get all the small replacement parts they will ever need for their guns. If anyone feels that they shouldn't have to get everything all at once fine. But then maybe this is something that's not really that important to you.

If things continue down certain paths, regulations, laws and constitutional violations are going to creep upon us rather quickly.
