Storm clouds are on the horizon .. It was only what 2 years ago 9mm was selling for around 16 cents/round if one bought in 1000 round lots... today... .90 cents/round for same round .. (from buds ) ... Girlfriend at times questions my spending habits on occasion. ... Stocking up on products that we use everyday for me is a no brainer. If you do any canning get supplies now... Years ago I bought a pressure canner
I noticed it is out of stock at the mfg .. . Getting to be gardening time .. don't wait for the last minute. At least get seeds ordered. Canning supplies bought. We could become a land of shortages. It is possible. Rolling blackouts. Other parts of the country have them ... we could also. Have a few extra propane tanks to cook on ... Gloves , work shoes ... I had a pair of work shoes wear out. Instead of buying new had then repaired. (about same cost ). Small businesses are hurting.. Throw some money to the fellow struggling rather than buy a new pair that came from China... Time to change the mindset ...

That's not accurate. We are seeing continuing COVID-related interruptions in the supply chains for durable goods and for select components (notably chips) but not for food or commodities basics. That's why Y2Kers saying "FOOD IS SCARCE" lack credibility. We are in fact running large foodstuff surpluses due to China not honoring purchase commitments.
And any price increases we are experiencing are the natural side result of the printing presses running overtime in Washington, D.C. to produce inflation. Wait until we get hit with the $15 national minimum wage and $5/gallon imported Venezuelan gasoline before we see how bad that gets.
Also an increase in cost and shortage for building materials

Interesting when you talk to people from all over many food items have come down in price because with restaurants, hotels and travel paralized the demand has gone down and they meed to push product.

Food, I have not found a huge shortage for. I'm interesting in a lot of lean protein, so there are a lot of sources for that (nuts, fish, chicken, etc) so I never have had issues. In fact, I think this is probably the easiest time food wise from what I've been able to tell compared to pandemic times.
Most of the shortage issues I've had, have been related to building shit. I need to get paver base and stones and expand the patio this year. last year it was a nightmare to even find the base or the pavers even.
When construction season opens in the HOA for the summer, I will likely have to pre-plan getting the bathroom materials with @cgrutt and look into getting / storing them over the course of a month in a nearby storage unit so we have everything on hand at once and don't have to worry about stoppages. Cheaper to spend a few hundred pre-storing core materials than run out I guess.

By the way, I wouldn’t say things are great. The stock market is in a bubble - bigger than the dotcom bubble, IMHO. Same with bitcoin. Inflation will be off the charts as the .gov prints and borrows another $5T or so before 2024. The US is barely a tick away from being Argentina. The key is not to stock foodstuffs, but to have a well diversified portfolio which includes plenty of gold, silver and lead.
