Torn on this one. I personally probably wouldn't chase someone who stole money from my car simply because I wouldn't want to be in this exact situation. He withdrew money from an ATM, so it couldn't have been a huge sum. I think I'd probably let it go and call myself silly.for leaving that $ in the car instead of on my person.

If all I had left in the world was $200 I might have to tell my friend I'm really sorry, but I'm a little strapped for cash at the moment.
And I'd like to save myself from having to draw on someone and take a life unless it was ABSOLUTELY necessary. Not just because of the stupid laws and such, but personal conscience. Dude robs my car and flees, ok, money can be replaced. Dude sticks a gun in my face and says give me your wallet, now we are in a totally different situation.
Change the scenario by elimination-
"What if it was all I had left in my account? "
Dire circumstances at that point. Maybe that was your rent. Maybe that was your utilities.
Maybe that was all you had for food. Your last dime taken from you in a desperate time of need.
We don't know the circumstances of the individual as it's not stated, buy any of those above might change your opinion.

I was musing about my own personal situation and feelings. Didn't say this guy was right or wrong. I don't know his life story. Maybe it was all he had left in the world. Everyone's life story is different. Im just saying that me personally will not be hawking someone down on the highway and engaging in gunplay over a couple hundred bucks.
