I've been reading that headline a about as long as the the one that says "fusion power is 20 years away".
Both are coming eventually.

Yes, Egypt moved their forces in *to contain Hamas in Gaza*. They are not worried about Isreal doing anything other than trying to give Gaza back again.
And in case you missed it, the Syrian government collapsed completely. Isreal moved in because there was *no* government in those areas and *someone* needs to counter Hamas there.

If the courts demand the government cut the check, then cut one to "Musk environmental holding inc" and let it sit there collecting interest until they can appeal far enough to claw it back.
No way the actual legislation authorizing the spending lists a specific corporation that it must go to.

They keep launching rockets into Isreali cities.
So, they might not be an existential military threat, but how many of your civilians need to be killed before you're justified in doing something about it ?
It shows a lot of restraint that they *didn't* go in there when it was someone else's sovereign territory.
But once the government collapsed, I'm not even sure you can call that an invasion. There wasn't a government to invade.

Syria ceased to exist as a country.
I don't think things are really heating up with Iran proper.... maybe with the people they use as tools, but not Iran in general. Nothing real will come out of this spat.

Well, it is an indication of whether they're strategic advisors well behind the lines or they're actually directly commanding troops.
Sort of like the difference between the Contras in Nicaragua and the American Volunteer Group in China.
Absolutely, target those that do these things directly. Wherever that particular missile comes from, destroy it.
But, that's not how America generally acts. We are a "head of the snake" kind of nation.
Even knowing what we know, tell Iran this is not necessarily targeted at you. We are simply defending our ships from attacks.
If Iran steps up (they won't), then eliminate them.
But sending rockets 1070 miles from where our ships are being hit needs to stop. Direct action at the spot.
And, this is also affecting other nations even more than it's affecting us. Make these nations step up. Norway is pretty proud of their Navy. Let them go to work. European nations are right there and will be severely affected by any war. Maybe they need to step up now.....more than they claim to be doing.

Multiple times the Russians have hit hotels rumored to be staffed with High ranking NATO officers , recently 30 NATO field commanders were cut off in the Kursk pocket, Trump asked Russia not to kill the encircled soldiers ,He was vaguely referring to the NATO officers that are not supposed to be on Russian soil. You know, watching this war unfold as its making history is something else. Drone warfare has basically halted Maneuver warfare, the way air power did in WW2 , either side that come up with a solution is going to gain a major edge. It may require fighter drones actively looking for enemy drones near their own formations and in large numbers , I dont think you can even track them on radar because they fly nap of the earth , you can fly them no higher than a tank if you wanted to right down the street at car top level between buildings , Its no wonder either side can make much progress. Its really changed the nature of warfare like the machine gun tank or airplane did , and new doctrines and weapons will have to be factored in to the future planning of an operation
I sometimes wonder if one of the reasons we keep the Ukraine war going is to watch the development of drone technology in warfare. We are learning lessons at the expense of the Ukrainians and Russians. No skin off our nose.
I'm getting the feeling things might pop off in the near future with iran.
I've been wrong on these things before plenty of times, but I'm getting that vibe again. I think something is going to happen shortly.
