Nonetheless nobody seems able to verbalize exactly how trump would have stopped it. It's about as meaningful a point as saying there were no global pandemics with Bush or Obama as president, but there was under Trump.

I would sure like to believe that one of these "elites" would prefer to put a bullet in putin before going along with him over the precipice of nuclear war.

I still see a good path out of this for russia: Somebody close to him needs to open his head up and a few top dogs in the kremlin then come on tv saying that putin had gone fucking crazy, we put him down like the dog he is, and we are pulling back from the brink of where he brought us. Very sorry, won't happen again. It's the best path forward for Russia. The absolute best, quickest path forward for russia to undo what they did here is by throwing putin under a bus. It just takes one bullet, let's do this.

It's called deterrence. Trump was an unpredictable wild card. I certainly remember all the talk after his election about how he was going to get us involved in war with North Korea.

You can reduce your cognitive dissonance with your "statistics" but the fact remains none of this happened while trump was in office.

As for NK I remember that. I'm glad we have cooler heads in office now--the kind of guy who jokes about putting chinese flags on american jets and attacking Russia is not one I want making any decisions that matter.

Donald rumsfeld had a lot of faults but he also had a few good lines. One of them was "weakness is a provocation". If there is one thing Biden exudes in spades it is weakness.

Russia has close to 1.5 million active duty military. It has 2 Million in reserve. with the ability to draft 34 million.

Russia went into Ukraine with around 150-200,000 troops . Less than 1/4 of their strength, Let that sink in.

Operation desert storm the US deployed over 600,000 troops for the initial invasion, not including coalition forces. And a six week air campaign.

IMHO, one has to factor into the "strength" of the fUSA military the emasculation and degradation of the staff officer corp since Obola, and the effect of blatant "woke" bullshit on the average enlisted people.

The above probably has a negative effect on morale.

Are the fUSA forces as mentally tough as the Russian forces? I doubt it.

I've yet to see what the attrition rate has been in the fUSA upper NCO ranks - namely E-5 and up. That's where the rubber meets the road.

Rereading some posts on this thread, it sure looks like there has been quite a bit of Putin serving bullshit propaganda spread here based on direct conversations friends have had with their relatives still living in Ukraine and Russia.

Those still in Ukraine confirmed first hand insights to their families that deliberate killing and attacks of civilians in non military targets and soley residential areas is widespread.

The Russians passed on to their family members that it widely understood to not be a holy war and is, to them, clearly a Putin power move.

Russians mentioned that similar to Ukraine, it is widely felt that filthy politicians and business interests in Russia have had great personal success and self-enrichment dealing with filthy politicians and businesses in the US. It was even mentioned that Moscow and Washington share the same swamps and monsters.

This makes sense to me.

The notion of Putin being a pure hearted knight rescuing the world on his white steed is utter nonsense. At best he is a cold blooded monster fighting some other monsters over more swamp.

I posted another video earlier in this thread with the similar thesis. A guy thought Russia is setting a trap for NATO. But I'm not sure if that's too far of a stretch or if it's trying to infer that Russias invasion isn't really an incompetent cluster but it's bait instead to draw in NATO while the rest of Russia military attacks NATO. I don't agree with it but it was interesting and I can't rule it out.

I'm thoroughly disgusted at some of the things I read here. I have seen plenty of pictures of dead civilians, parents weeping over their kids, kids weeping over their parents. Thousands of definitely-not-nazi civilians of all ages have been killed, and millions displaced.

Anyway, this morning I saw Arnold Schwarzenegger put up a 9 minute clip. It's really very good. He intros with recognition of a friendship he had with a russian, calls putin out plainly on his bullshit, and finishes up lauding the bravery of russians who are speaking up against this. I didn't get the typical celebrity bullshit vibe from it. He also called out his father's experience fighting for the nazis in WWII.

I really can't believe this. How many spy satellites (and for that matter old fashioned human intelligence assets) do we have trained on or in Russia? Putin may be able to hide some units but not large masses of troops and that's what he'd need to take on the whole of NATO. I for one believe we know exactly how many assets the Russians have and most of their capabilities.

Furthermore, what type of "trap" is he going to set for NATO? I for the life of man can't understand why any rational leader (political of military) in Russia would think it would be a advantageous to enter into a conventional war with NATO.

Unless Putin is a James Bond-style supervillain has secret weapons hidden underground of in mountain fortresses that we don't know about. Hell, maybe the "tic tac" UFO/UAP that were in the news not all that long ago are really Russian wonder weapons (for the record, I don't believe that for an instant).

Except POTUS doesn't control pandemics.

He does control how the US is perceived internationally.

Hell, even Don Lemon admitted Trump was taken more seriously than Biden.

He was also taken more seriously than Obama or even Bush.

If Trump had a second term, Putin would have stayed in his own back yard. Because while Trump didn't start any wars (in contrast to the other 3 stooges) he was perceived as a strong America first leader who would not back down.

The other 3 are perceived as the type who would draw a red line, and when you crossed it they would just draw another one.
