I noticed some cooling down towards Ukraine in our media. When this started they were falling over each other to kiss Zelensky rear end. Not so much now. There are also massive protests in Europe against NATO and EU with calls to stay out of this conflict and end costly sanctions.

When would you stop fighting for your home? Goat herders in Afghanistan fought us for a decade - small arms against drones, satellites, and a military with a huge budget.... yet they are still there and we aren't. The Answer is an Iron fist. Something the west doesn't do. The Russians can take and hold Ukraine .The tactics to do so may be more brutal than We are used to. This is not hard. if there is an active sector of guerrillas in an area . You tell the people to move into different sectors by a paticular date. anyone found inside this sector after such date will be deemed hostile . You keep doing this until they are all in one sector, Then deport every able bodied male or kill them .
However when this war is over, I believe both sides will breath a sigh of relief that it is . Its hard to believe that any Ukrainian will want to pursue more fighting after what the country and the individuals have been through. with a very small pool of able men left to boot.
The US never had the heart to win in Afghanistan nor probably the intention. they certainly had the army to do it . but they never sent them over. They never really tried to defeat them . they only wanted certain areas . They didnt want to commit to winning . They tried to do it on the cheap.
When Genghis Khan invaded present day Iraq. He told the king of Bagdad to surrender or He will kill every living thing in the city. Long story short, The king refused and the Mongols killed every living thing in the city except for a few people to go to the other citys and tell the tale.
The next city he demanded only tribute and food and water for his troops if they needed it other than that he would leave them alone to govern themselves. He took all of iraq without a fight . he did this other places too.
