Raytheon CEO Says Ukraine Has Depleted Weapon Stocks Faster Than Expected
“We’ve gone through, in the first 10 months of the war, 5 years worth of production on javelin anti-tank missiles and we’ve gone through 13 years worth of stinger production so it’s going to take us some time to catch up.”

Large electrical transformers are a global market with a lead time in the months to years range.Ukraine is unable to fully restore the national energy system, which has been degraded by Russian missile strikes, President Vladimir Zelensky has said, urging his citizens to cope with the situation.
Ukrainians should not forget “that it is now impossible to restore 100% of the energy system as it was before” Russian forces started attacking the infrastructure, the Ukrainian leader said in a video address on Wednesday evening.
Zelenskyy: Impossible to restore 100% of energy system now but we are increasing generation
Full restoration of the energy system which was damaged by Russian attacks is not possible at the moment; Kyiv city and the oblasts of Kyiv, Lviv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Poltava, Vinnytsia and Zakarpattia have the most power outages.news.yahoo.com

There is not a lot of excess production capacity during normal times.
If Ukraine is going to need to replace a lot of them, better hope nobody else in the world does for the next couple years....
Ukraine will be in the dark, but it also means everyone else is vulnerable too, because the next several years worth of possible production are already spoken for.I can't find the article now but I read that Ukraine has been out of spare large transformers for months already. They used up all of their spares over summer to keep their grid going. Apparently many of the Baltic states and countries like Poland have been giving Ukraine some of their spares large power transformers. Those are also now destroyed.
So Ukraine is totally out and many European countries essentially have no/minimal large power transformers in reserve stock. So there's a major vulnerability from now until the next year or so when new units can be produced and delivered. A good portion of spares are now destroyed. These are a global commodity and it's certainly not good. It has potential to indirectly affect the US grid as well now that the manufacturers production capacity will be filled up with replacing the recently destroyed units.
Ukraine is going to be dark for a long time.
It was an interesting article I read but I can't find it to link to now.

Nobody maintains a large reserve for these.
And the largest ones are site specific and don't have spares at all. You would need to have a replacement custom made. All the places that can custom make them are booked solid for years now.
It really is a perfect storm in the making.
The entire global production capacity is only a few hundred a year for these things. A sudden demand spike would be catastrophic. If that demand is just to replace existing failed transformers, even more so.
Same. This is IMO very concerning. The thing Im a little bit puzzled about is Poland chomping at the bit to go to war with Russia. I dont get it.

Poland sees this as a chance to restore the Empire they once had.
