I ordered a barrel from EABCO a couple days ago and got a call from them today asking if I had friends or relatives in another state that they could send it to because they can't send a threaded (muzzle) barrel to NY, so sent to brother in Ohio then here for me.

I'm starting to think many of these companies only want to sell to Dealers in NY:
Palmetto won't send to individuals here, yet dealers established with them they have no problem with... I've read complaints against Surplus people, gunbroker sellers, and even those selling gun repair parts for refusing to do business with residents of NY... must be all those "Cease and Desist" Letters from the Attorney General's Office worked after all.

Palmetto certainly will ship to NYS since I just sent two people there for all AR parts except the lowers since they had them.

Threaded barrels are perfectly legal in NY on many configurations of rifle.
Fixed mag, sure.
Non semi-auto, good to go.
If they're not going to ship anything that *could* be built into an illegal configuration they might as well just stop shipping anything. "Sorry, we can't ship you that aftermarket trigger, you might put it into an AW"

You legally can’t use a threaded barrel on a semi auto in NYS correct? Shipping such a product where it is likely to be illegally used opens them up to liability. They are already facing liability in lawsuits with the AG and new York local government lawsuits .

Sure, what kind of barrel. There are already under scrutiny by the the AG’s office. They probably already got a cease and desist letter. All of the big companies got targeted by the AG office . It’s the smaller companies who weren’t directly contacted that might still listen.
Some companies just aren’t will to take a chance , hence the FFL requirement that absolves the company from any legal liability.

The AG has just as valid a case to sue over the trigger as the barrel.
It's classic extortion, and people should be in prison for it.
But because they work for .gov and not .com they get a pass.

They do and have sued successfully other companies . For example, companies would not ship ammo to a NYC address even if the recipient had a permit. They would get sued .
Go see the terms and conditions on a lot of the ammo companies have on shipping ammo.

I am just telling the reality of the situation. I don’t have to agree with it. Companies can and have been successfully sued for being nuisance by shipping it to places like NYC even before the SAFE act.

I am saying there is no reason that can't do that for any other firearms related product.
Thinking you're safe selling the aftermarket trigger but not the threaded barrel is just trying to fly under the radar. The law is the same for both.
I.e. both are perfectly legal to ship to NYC, but NY obviously DGAF about the law.

The reality of the situation is that you can be killed for wearing the wrong color bandana in the wrong neighborhood too.
But that doesn't make it legal.
Just because NY gets away with violating the law doesn't make it any different than MS13 enforcing their "laws" either.

Yep. Full featured uppers with threaded barrels and flash suppressors along with buffer tubes and adjustable buttstocks in the same order. They installed mag locks so it’s legal.
I looked on their site and they said they won’t ship lowers and that was the only restriction.

You can use a threaded barrel on a semi auto as long as the magazine is fixed and the firearm does accept detachable magazines.

Bottom line is it’s not illegal to sell me anything that isn’t a firearm or over a 10 round magazine and unless I tell them I’m doing something illegally then they have zero legal liability.
I've never had a problem, but have read multiple recounts here and on other Gun Forums where PSA and others have refused, canceled, or dropped items from orders going to New York... some companies ask for your zip code to determine IF they'll ship to you, some insist the shipping address and payment address match, others just figure all of New York is New York City.

Get real. It’s a company trying to do business the best they can. Some things are less problematic than others . When NYS goes after trigger mods then they will stop that too. There are companies that will not ship anything to NY. Are we better off as a result ?

You know how they'll find out that aftermarket triggers are the new target ? When someone gets sued for them.
So either you're willing to risk it, willing to fight, or you want to roll over at the first sign of trouble.

It’s cost vs benefit. How many threaded barrels are going to be sold without such a ban? These restrictions aren’t new to the legal system. Cost of litigation has probably been calculated. It might not be worth it for threaded barrels.
