Both Cali and NY now have NY SAFE in place. One was voted in at midnight by the legislatures and the other was voted in by the very same people that voted for Hildabeast. What do they have in common?

1. Doesn't do anything for those that are denied access to concealed carry permits in their home jurisdiction.

2. Seems to violate state sovereignty. So, could be ruled unconstitutional under the 10th amendment.

3. With only a slim Republican majority in the U.S. Senate, and many of those caucus members being RINOs, there is zero chance such a bill will ever get passed.

But if open carry is legal, it would force the repressive regimes to allow CCW, or get used to people open carrying.

New York City will never allow us to exercise our most basic 2nd amndt rights... I don't care what they say, campaign promises, whatever. When I see it, I will believe it. Chucky Schumer will never allow it, will be tied up in courts for years. We will all be 6 feet under by the time its cleared up. First, it has to pass in congress, then lets see.... There are no 2nd amndt rights for New Yorkistan.... Ny would secede from the United states before it let an ordinary citizen carry concealed.....

The damnable Commies made my AR-15 a FELONY to poses unless I register it. I can't transfer it, I can't bequeath it. We can no longer buy lowers. It's illegal to poses magazines I've owned for decades. We cant buy ammo through the mail. WE MUST USE AN FFL to buy AMMO! And we go into state data base buying ammo!

If the 2nd amendment is ruled that they can't outlaw open carry, then the government won't have a choice. They won't be able to say here, we allow CCW instead of open. They can offer CCW in addition to open, but not instead of.

Ive been saying this for years!!! this is the best way to help strengthen the 2a. the lawmakers in places like NY, CA, NJ, etc... would have a melt down over having to recognize out of state permits.... NOW, what about states like VT that are constitutional carry and no permits are required????? if they don't have a permit, then I guess the drivers license would serve as a "gun permit"??

I forget which ones do it, but there's already a couple of states that have constitutional carry that will issue a permit specifically for the purpose of using it in a non-resident reciprocity role at this point, so it shouldn't be a sticking point.

You are correct. But most people would prefer CCW on both sides of the issue.

The lefties don't want to be reminded that people can defend themselves, and gun owners prefer the tactical advantage of concealed carry. Also, neither side really wants the conflict that open carry brings.

If people start open carrying in NYC, they will offer them a CCW and beg them to hide it so they don't upset the sheep. Most gun owners would take it so that they don't have to deal w/ some snowflake freaking out on them.

So, mandating open carry will cause a drastic increase in concealed carry, even if it isn't ruled a right.

People would of course maintain the option of open carrying, but most would not if given the option, at least not in NYC.

Open carry only is a can of worms that many don't realize of that road is the only one. All it takes is issuing another law where no gun signs are the force of law and open carry is pretty much done.

Every store, restaurant, ect in NYC would have such a sign.

I listen to a podcast called Handgun World. The guy is from Texas where signs have the force of law. Since open carry has become legal, more stores and places now have those signs where previously they didn't when it was concealed only.

Now he has to plan his day based on where he can carry since there are more signs up.

Really depends upon your location and the location of the store. If the Sullivan act was not law due to some magical federal law that overrode it. The people of the PRNY would rejoice in their new found freedom and open carry would be the hot topic of the day. I could see a lot of businesses try out their new "no gun" policy for a week or two before they are recended due to lack of business. Once freedom is tasted it is very hard to keep it in the bottle.

2nd amendment already supercedes state rights pursuant to McDonald 2010. So any further clarification from scotus on the second will apply to all states.

In theory. In practice we know that states have taken a dim view on the second and nobody seems to do anything about it. That may change now. We have never had a republican president since McDonald was passed.

They'd just start issuing one for reciprocity purposes. Arizona has both.
but until I see it, I won't believe it.

I respect the optimism here but until I see it with my own eyes, the Unsafe Act is here to stay unless the National Fudd Organization fights it to a conservative leaning Scotum.
