So, this position should be paying closer to 130k. There are plenty of people who are probably qualified to take it, and probably want it as well. Heck, a lot of old school DBAs are retraining for newer systems like Mongo/DynamoDB, Vertica, Cassandra, etc. So there must be plenty of AMERICANS willing to fill this position that I saw posted in this H1B declaration.

This is what abuse looks like. This is abuse of the H-1B system because there are plenty of workers available -- just not at the market rate the company would like. But that's their problem. H1B is for when American labor isn't available. If I said "gee, I can't find anyone to clean my whole house for 50 cents. I might have to have a house keeper come to this country from south America" that would seem insane. Yet, this is what goes on more or less.

That's why this is an important issue that I want Trump to take a harder stance on.

how can any kid theses days be a DBA .. they all got freaking hosed with common core math .. how the hell would you write a SQL query in common core to add a bunch of numbers and place them in "Total Cost" ??? LOL ..

I should look into this more for the house cleaner for 50 cents a day .. might be my asian or columbine wife too and a lot less drama like the females here .. LMAO

Honestly, a lot of DBAs are older guys who used to be Oracle admins. These days there are less and less specialized DBAs. Normally the role is being hoisted onto developers or infrastructure architects to help maintain the databases. I haven't seen a lot of younger DBAs.

@libertysnake i'm 52 i think now LOL .. i'm learned programming on my own .. started basic on TTY machines back in the 80's .. and up to now .. i can read programming code in a bunch of language and get the just of it and with searching can convert it ..
just last night at work i showed a coworker how shit programmers are these days ,.

illegal entry in field .. oh the hyphen .. WTF .. really !!!! yes its real at work

I only start getting seriously worried when I see fields populated with things like "DROP TABLE users;" as a value for a field somewhere. Means someone isn't doing their job when writing their application to screen for that shit.

I’ve seen many node.js shops. So JavaScript is still pretty useful to know.

I’ve seen more development with Python and Ruby though. Rails and now Django shops.
