Thordsen stock screw - permanence technique?

sorry if this has been asked before, but I searched forum and did not find answer.

Thordsen website for NY suggests stock screw should have screw head or cavity filled with epoxy or silicon.

Any suggestion on best way to do this, keeping in mind at some point I might need to remove stock (repair or upgrade safety or trigger for example)?

Although not required where I reside in MA, I’ve built a featureless AR with Thordsen stock and shot an Appleseed with it and want to be legitimate before venturing into NY with it.

There is no permanence mentioned in NY law for anything except magazines. Your rifle either has features or it doesn’t. That’s it.

Putting epoxy on a screw for permanence is akin to grinding down all rails on a hand guard or plugging every hole on an Mlok hand guard, and epoxying the hand guard to the receiver so that it could never be swapped out so that it could never accept a forward grip.

Have to agree with @Marine Cpl , IIRC the only mention of "permanence" for a stock or grip was on the NYSP online safe act guide.

Ask whoever told you you need to "permanently" attach the stock, how do you "permanently" prevent attachment of a forward grip, or bayonet ? Since both can purchased that just clamp to the barrel.

As others have mentioned, the only thing NY requires to be permanent is reduction of magazine capacity. And even for that there is no accepted standard of what it takes. They are commonly sold with just a rivet to block the follower, and AFAIK nobody has gotten called on that method.

I forgot to mention, have you seen the stock on any factory compliant rifle "permanently attached" ?

Ever seen a 10/22, SKS, Mini-14 or any of 100 other models of "factory compliant" rifles with a stock you can't replace ?

Nothing in law says it needs to be permanent. Why epoxy up the screw if it doesn’t need it?

Also the fact that the detent for the safety is in there. If something with the safety malfunctions and you can't get the screw out then what?
A local gun shop said the a trooper came in after the safe act went through and told him he should epoxy all the thorsden stock screws. He said no because he doesn't need to and it's not safe because of the safety.

Remember its not the actually law that you have to worry about getting arrest from its how its been interpited by the person arresting you that will bring you into to the court requiring a 300 dollar an hour attorney to restore your 2nd amendment rights . I remember when I was bithcing the days before this bullshit was put in place and folks made fun of me and called me chicken little claiming the sky was falling and that no one can go against the 2nd amendment . Well here we are 6 years latter and the illegal law still stands as solid as the day it was enacted stripping us of our second amendment rights and no one is taking any runs at it . Why are we still waiting is anybody formulating a plan to rid us of the BS or is this the lay of the land forever
