This is a recent video.
From what I read it will be a 6.8 caliber but not the SPC. I think that film is dated.
RobinAmmo Firm Unveils 6.8mm Cartridge for Army’s Next-Gen Squad Weapon
A Texas-based ammunition company recently unveiled its new 6.8mm cartridge.www.military.com
Yeah. So there!A bit of actual history....
The 6.8 SPC from remington is dead along with their horrible ammo.
The one that everyone is talking about is the 6.8 SPCII that is the one that became so popular thanks to 68forums, AR Performance, Wilson combat, LWRC, young manufacturing, Stag arms, Daniel Defense, Federal, SSA, Hornady, Bison Armory, etc...
Remington did nothing. Made mistakes with the chamber and ammo but didn't fix them and abandoned the cartridge. Bunch of idiots.
Nobody sells the original remington 6.8 SPC anymore. If you buy a new rifle or pistol chances of getting a gen1 are close to zero and the best
ammo is not remington that is backwards compatible but possibly the worse underpowered shit.
I thought I read somewhere they were going to a 6mm ?
Army wants to spend R&D money so their budget doesn't go down. I doubt they'll do much with the caliber. It would be a tough enough sell to get our own military to transition to .223, nevermind getting our allies to switch over when they already don't like spending a Euro cent more than they have to on defense. I'd like my cynical ass to be wrong though. The 6.5-6.8 caliber chamberings seem like a better minimum for hunting bad guys than .223.Army wants a 6.8
