Cite one. No DA or anyone else is charging a law abiding person with saving their life. In fact, there was a story here in NY where a guy had an illegal pistol and used it against a home invader. All charges dropped. This was an illegal possessed pistol. Not one that is lawful and handed off in an emergency. It still was deemed to not warrant the charge of CPW.

So in this mob scenario if you have no avenue of escape and your ridiculous neutered AR pistol or long gun is in a bag on the front seat for convenience, you’ll only need it if your car is surrounded and they are trying to get you out. At that point, what are you going to do? Exit the vehicle, tell the mob to hold on a second while you pull it out of your bag?

I wouldn't know, but would nearly bet my life, crowd will disperse with no harm to anyone in scenario #4. In this case I'm not worried about a menacing charge.
Right on. Menacing cannot exist where use of force is justified or where you reasonably perceive a deadly threat or serious injury threat exists. Those justifications would cancel out any menacing.

Not talking about menacing. Talking about having to pull it out to shoot someone to defend your life. If all they are doing is stopping traffic, there is no threat to your life. If your car is surrounded however and they are breaking the glass to get you out, your pistol is much more useful than any long gun. You can swing it back and forth to multiple windows faster than any rifle with a short barrel.
Afterwards after you kill one or two of them with it and find an opening to exit your car, if you aren’t beating feet to put distance between you and the mob and instead decide to open your bag to get your rifle out, you are a fool. You just wasted time. Much better to continue to put distance between them and you with your pistol in your hand and take out any that get close to you like Kyle did.
But if you want to stop and pull out a rifle, well you just sacrificed precious steps.

I would not abandon the vehicle period. Glass breaks, I'm firing and running people over. My scenario #4 above is in hopes of backing the crowd off before it gets to that point.

I still think a shockwave would be a better bet than an AR pistol in NY.
In a free state with multiple 30 round mags, then that AR pistol makes sense, but here with a 10 rounder locked in place, nope.

Even with a speed loader? A shotgun you might have 5-7 shots and you’re also done. You could reload I guess if you had the extra shells handy but that’s a slow reload.
Most here don't like the fixed mags. I don't either, but I have no problem using it in a defensive situation. It's proven to be reliable, chance of misfeed is very rare. I'd feel much better with a 30 rounder though. Not to mention, the handgun is always at my side.
I wouldn't know about modern mags, but back in the good old days in NY when we could have such things, high cap mags were generally pretty unreliable.

I have an AR pistol and one of the speed loaders.
I would not recommend relying on that speed loader in any sort of self defense situation.
I am pretty sure you could reload a shockwave faster with one of the speedloaders the 3 gun guys use.

Some of the responses here about intimidation are just plain funny. That sure worked for all open carriers of rifles at these protests. Rewind time and show your posts to 17 year old Kyle so that he can take your advice.
The only talk of intimidation here is of a last resort. Speaking of Kyle, I'd say it worked for the most part. Out of the thousands of protestors how many actually tried to advance on him? A handful? Didn't work out to well for them.
