Thoughts on the Walther PDP ?

Since my venture into dot pistols I’ve been considering a full size host .
Currently I’m running an RMR on my G19 and I’m hooked.
I’ve been torn between buying a 17 having the slide milled ( don’t care for MOS ) or mill either my M&P 2.0 4.25”or 5” slide .
Then Walther had to force me add another option ! I’ve always been rather Walther curious .
I’m hesitant to get a non specific optic pistol ( don’t like the whole plate idea ) . However the PDP looks like a decent option . I like that the slide is milled deeper and would allow the optic to sit at a proper height.
I’m confident you guys will gladly help me spend my money , so what say you !?

Side note : I have first dibs on one of the incoming PDPs at my LGS .

Also based in walthers track record of not really giving a fuck about US sales I'd wait to see how the support ends up..

Since the PPQ seems like it's going to be dropped almost all together for the PDP and the PPQ was just getting attention after like 7 years

I’m rather disappointed, I kinda liked the PPQ and I wanted to love the PDP .

I dunno I just watched that video and read a bunch of comments about it. I think that's a huge over reaction. I've yet to hold or even see a pdp so I can't say for sure but some of the comments from pdp owners seemed to be the guy was misleading.

A bunch of comments indicated he was using the wrong plates. So who knows. Maybe he has an agenda. Maybe walther screwed up.

I really can't imagine walther engineers screwed up that bad I'm sure their system works. I think it will be a solid pistol. I'm also pretty sure walther gives a lifetime warranty but double check that.


It looks like a really nice option.

I guess time will tell . I’m sure a large majority of the PDPs that get out in circulation will have an optic of some sort mounted on top .

One video does not mean much.
Have you seen the video of the glock exploding in a guys hand?
Does that mean all glocks blow up?......of course not.
A friend of mine bought a S&W 686 that was out of timing from the box.
My Ruger 10/22 came with a bunk magazine.

I would honestly say that’s not much movement. He really relies on the side to side movement not the front to back movement but with the slide being cut it can’t move front to back much at all. I’d be supposed of these break but I’m no metal expert. There should be no side to side forces on this plate.

My other thought is if others spent the time to cut those channels in there then that takes time and money. Business don’t generally spend time and money for no reason. Many things are way over engineered though so is this that case?

As stated above time will tell but it looks like a very nice gun.

Not much movement?

Any amount of movement on a slide mounted optic is to much movement
