Pretty much the same grip I use but my right thumb stays flat on gun

Yea, thumb belongs on the gun for sure.
That grip just giving up some stability for nothing.
Also, the left hand is far too far forward. You're supposed to grip the grip, not the trigger guard

It doesn't look natural or comfortable or effective but there are people with hand movement limitations, modal issues or simply the way we're thought.
It is hard to say. Whatever makes you score like a champ.
Form has zero value if it doesn't work. It is beautiful to do taichi but a good jujitsu master is going to fuck you up.

Agreed. Thumb should be on pistol and support hand is too high.
IMO I only think his right hand thumb is out of place. Should be on the gun not over his support hand
I'm fine with support hand placement, some people like to get really aggressive with it and I don't see that as a problem if it works for them.
