I have some faith in Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh. Roberts is a squish, and I don’t trust him to do the right thing at all. Kagan might surprise us; she did go shooting with Scalia, and occasionally shows an independent streak.

I read something about NYC having preemptively stopped this law to try and sink the case. So part of the arguments are whether it's still even valid or not as a matter to adjudicate.

You would hope that the court is smarter than that. All it would take is for the court to let it die then the legislators put the laws right back on the books. You'd really hope that the court would see through the games and rule on it regardless of if it's still on the books at the time of the hearing since it WAS when the suits were filed.

Old news, they changed the law and asked the court 3 separate times to not hear the case because of the change of law, each time the court said no the case will go forward

I read the entire transcript. My prediction is that the case will not be mooted and dismissed. It will be 5 to 4. The law will be found unconstitutional. Alito got the city's lawyer to admit there is a constitutional right to carry gun outside the home in some manner. If they put this in their decision it will be support for future cases. On level of scrutiny, I have no idea.

From everything that I have read it sounds to me the case will be mooted with Roberts being the 5th vote for moot.
I did not read the transcripts and I am not a lawyer and do not understand a lot of the legal mumbo jumbo.
