6.5 Creedmoor
Today's projects from the bench included to finish stripping, cleaning and polishing the internals of the SRs.
Pro tip: When assembling small springy parts do so inside a gallon sized zip lock bag.
Pro Tip #2 : Make sure that the springy thingy is not pointed towards the bag opening when if flies loose.
Pro Tip #3: Don't work in a room with shag carpet. Thank the deity of your choice when you locate said part ( in this case, the 1/4" tall slide safety detent & spring) hiding behind the china cabinet after running a magnet over the shag for 2 days hoping to somehow get lucky and snag it. Thankfully Ruger was sending me one as Numrich is out of stock ( $12+ship+tax).
Project #2:
I have a both a Ruger SR9 and a SR40 and the magazines look identical. The guns as well.
How does one know which mag goes to which gun at a glance? What if a family member needs it?
I decided to color fill the magazine roll marks and place a matching color dot on the side of gun.
The PCC will also get a white dot to indicate that those mags go there as well.
The color fill also makes it easier to see the caliber on the mags to match the bullets ( read the side of the box)
I showed this to the family members so they understand what the colors were for.
Lockdown is boring. One must amuse themselves how they can.
