This year has been amazing for me as far as seeing deer. Of the 10 or so days I have been out, only one time did I ONLY see 1 deer. But, although I took one with my bow on my birthday, I've had no luck since including a missed shot yesterday when a big doe flushed 20' to my left. Oh well. I am getting another deer though as my cousin filled his freezer and an extra tag so he told me I could have it as long as I paid for the butchering.

Seeing them makes it worth being out. That's what's been keeping me going this year. A couple years ago I seen none. Today a big doe and 2 really late birth fawns early on. The little ones looked like they're gonna need all the help they can get so mom got a pass. This evening I heard something crashing through the brush and it was 2 doe, one really big, other smaller. Oly passed 40' from me but someone spooked them and they were going flat out. I grunted a few times and the big doe stopped but she was behind a huge maple, didn't know she stopped till I leaned over to look past it. Grunted again hoping she would step around the tree but she had already continued up over the hill. I just didn't know it because of the tree. Not one buck yet though. A neighbor has 3 different bucks on his trail cam so we know they are there, Just a matter of finding when they are passing through. I can't complain too much, at least I'm seeing deer.

That's been my biggest problem the last few years. Since my oldest son was born 3 years and change ago, I've found it increasingly difficult to get out into the woods, and the longer I sit there without seeing anything, the more I start feeling like I'm wasting time that I could be spending with my now 2 boys.

Hahahahah, Know that guilty feeling well Camper! All I can tell you is that no matter my success or failure, at the end of the season, I was a better Husband, Father, Man.
Got one of those dehydrators Airborne, It works way better than the oven, and now that the kids are grown up and on their own, I actually get to eat some of it.

First 2 days were a total bust. Very windy, so windy that most of the camps emptied out by Monday. So got the first 3 doe down Monday afternoon. Got a buck yesterday. Doe and buck were all nice sized deer. Still have tags to fill so hunting most of today, if it doesn't rain too much..

Happy Turkey Day guys ;)
Started out pretty good today, not too cold and just a bit of hail. Seen a doe crossing the hill but again no shot was offered. Then they sky opened up to let the rain out. Oh well.....

Been pre season scouting with my 6 year old son. Many times over the last few months. Yesterday morning he comes into the bathroom and tells me 'a buck with a big rack is outside.' So I grab the rifle, go outside, the 6 pointer sees me and runs 100 yards into the woods. I follow and get within 40 yards. Got a clean shot and just had tenderloins for dinner. Am I a lazy hunter?

It's real nice....!! He has few more he did for him, one was dipped in Camo pretty cool. Not a taxidermy shop, just some guy like you or I who does nice work. I have his phone but can't post it unless I get ok. Sure he don't mind though at 60.00 a head .... Did nice work to last long time, some use a wax coat unless needed to dip he said.

I was told use Peroxide.... Do not use bleach etc... IDK one don't last? Other does when waxed? $60.00 though looks great in person waxed?.... !!!
