Took my 9 year old fishing today

I have been getting skunked this year on trout and steelhead. So I went to my parents place today and my son wanted to fish. We're not there 5 minutes and he starts yelling dad I got one. I look over and he's in the fast ripples so I say of it's probably just the current. I see a trout jumping out of the water. He brings it in and it's about a 22" brown trout. You got to hear him tell the story. It's hilarious. Beautiful fish. Guess what I caught nothing. Skunked again. He wants to hunt now too. I love that kid.

awesome for the kid .. I used to get my dad all upset fishing .. come back with a bucket full .. what were using .. stick and some line i found .. cig butts for bait .. .. WTH .. i got 300 in tackle and catch nothing .. .,.

My sons a looker so that would be no problem. He has the longest eye lashes and light brownish green eyes. He's 9 and my older son is almost 13. My older sons freinds that are girls fawn over him. A bit scary because he a wild man.

Hey I had one the same size chase my lure. Honestly he does a great job fishing. I don't think it's beginners luck with him. I hand him my fenwick first time out and he casts. He reels it in I say hey let me try. Of course he's bummed. We cast the exact same distance. He can cast as far as me at 9. He needs to work on accuracy, but he's also determined.

Now both kids want to hunt. I have not hunted in years. I'm posting some help on that now.

We ate it last night and he absolutely loved it. I caught it in the Genesee river where year round trout fishing is allowed. Now I have to get some steelhead. The water has been so low at the stream I've been fishing so no steelies. I have some time off so I'll go to catt creek and bring home a few steelies. My mother in law loves them.
