Took my new 10-22 out for a spin this morning

I swapped the trigger for a Volquartsen and replaced the stock with an Archangel. This is for my kids and I to shoot steel challenges with in PA.

It's all sighted in and ready to go. My son and I put about 175 rounds through it this morning. Love the trigger on it.

I got one for a Mini 14 and then sent it back, When my LGS said it may be considered a pistol grip and that Springfield Armory would not ship M1A's with that stock to NY!

A pistol grip is a stand-alone grip. That's a stock and sold as such. It's no different than the Thordsen.

If it were a pistol grip, you can put that on a pistol and legally be able to shoulder it because it isn't a stock. They can't have it both ways. It's either a stock or a grip.

No. There is no need to. If all it is is a pistol grip, then you can put that on a pistol like so without NFA stamps.

Or you can put this Thordsen on an AR pistol with a 7.5 inch barrel.

Maybe next season. I just bought an older Colt 45 for Bullseye, then this for 200, a trigger for 200 and a stock for 100 and a wicked cheap halo for $25. I'm waiting on a Model 41 for bullseye as well.

Dicks had them for 199, then it went to 209. A little more for a synthetic stock but since I was replacing the stock I wanted to be as cheap as possible. They also Had Federal 22 for $18 a box so I got 6. I also had $30 in rewards. I did this 2 hours before we left on vacation.

They are great guns. I have a 50th anniversary as well but wanted one that I was willing to modify. Plus now with a 2nd one I don't have to fight with my kids as much to shoot them.....both have bolt action 22's but love my 10-22. I may have to get 1 more next year.

Not bad for 50 yards outside (I don't usually shoot outdoors) with a cheap reflex dot.

What brand of ammo were you shooting? 22 rimfires can be fickle about what ammo they shoot best! Without going into high end target ammo CCI-SV and Mini Mags are what most of my 22's shoot best then Federal and Winchester, I avoid Remington thou some are saying the Golden Bullets have improved?

Have you done the auto-bolt release? It is almost a must! Just pull back and release, There are You Tube videos on this modification or Midway USA has the replacement part for $10.35.

I think it was Winchester. It didn't like the federal as much. I had also put come cci through it. I have the Volquartsen trigger and it has the auto bolt release built in. I need to do that to my other 10-22. The Remmington Golden are just junk and none of my guns really like them.
