So just a little legislative update for those who cared to be dicks upon hearing the headline but fail to actually see what is happening.
Here is how this "Torrent of anti-gun" legislation is fairing in Utah with only 9 days left in the legislative session.

First the real bad anti-gun bills ( and by bad bills I mean shit that gets introducted in every state there is a Democrat in):

HB98 - Safe storage requirements HB0098 DEAD IN COMMITTEE 9 nays to 2 yays

SB83 - SB0083
Basically a companion safe storage bill to the above, in the Senate.
Last action is that it was sent to committee 1/17. Has not been debated or voted on.

HB97 - HB0097
Establishes a waiting period for gun purchases.
DEAD IN COMMITTEE, 9 nays, 1 yay, 1 absent.

Then the mostly inert, or annoying bills that have been portrayed as apocalyptic but really aren't.
HB426: HB0426
A bill seeking to amend existing Utah law. Basically making it a requirement for ffls to post signage about potential liabilities for not securing firearms.
Held in committee. Has not seen movement since 2/7 probably because the house safe storage bill failed and the senate version will likely fail as well.
There are other bills seeking to amend the same existing law that are also not moving.
HB326: HB0326
Establishes a tax incentive you can claim for buying a gun safe or other safe storage device...very avoidable by just doing nothing. Don't want the feds to know you own guns? Don't fucking claim gun shit on your taxes. Real simple...This looks like it will pass and become law, but if you think this comes anywhere close to being some kinda Safe Act level gun control you are a RETARD.

Also, just so you know, since there is another thread on the topic of credit card companies designating firearm related sales with there own marker, so far in California. Utah is being proactive in preventing this.

Prohibits CC companies/merchants from using a firearms catagory code on transactions. This has passed the house and will very likely pass the senate and become law.

9 days left in this session. We will see how it all pans out. So far, it's hardly the "torrent of gun control" this send money/fear porn thread was created over.

Come on Utah

HB 1160 requires all Voters to be registered annually. If you’re a Voter, this means you have register to Vote every year with the state. The Fee to register to Vote is $1,500.00 per year. You will also have to pass a Mandatory Civic Class of 40 hours and show a 90% proficiency on Correctly Voting. The Cost of the 40 hour Class will be up to the Licensed Civics Instructors.
Failing to Register will be a $5,000 fine and 10 years in prison.
