He may well have been in an open carry state so not NY. And it's the way to act if white also. I doubt that the video should have been labeled with "...when you're black.." You have to expand the screen to see the whole title.

Oh I most totally figured it was an Open Carry state, otherwise the dumbest of the dumb of a human can still act "politely" as he may have.
I do not see a reason to hold onto the gun either. I will say, I can, a little bit understand it in the climate that we are living. I am not saying it is a valid excuse to disarm, I am only saying that I can understand it.
This was a perfect traffic stop. EVERYONE did exactly right. Both parties were respectful and courteous. No one likes to be stopped. The rider was in fact guilty of his offenses. The cop was a decent guy doing his job. This is a poster videos of how all sides should handle a SIMPLE traffic stop.

Like all have said, definitely the way to conduct yourself in a stop. I saw this originally posted on Facebook. I can't remember if what I watched what posted by the rider, but it was labeled with the black reference as well. Doesn't matter to me. White, Mexican, black, Australian - that's how you act.
I'm less offended by the confiscation (if you can call it that), I'm sure the officer could tell at some point afterwards that it wouldn't have mattered due to the manners of the rider. I'm for disclosure at the very least, but I understand that it can cause problems if it makes a cop jumpy, but if he's jumpy from some info voluntarily given, then maybe he needs to not be a cop. I'm too trusting, so I would say it wouldn't bother me if I was disarmed during a stop, because I'm thinking in a way that it takes one thing off his mind, he's probably thinking about one less thing now. I dunno. If it's just flapping out there, I see no harm in putting it on the ground or the hood of his cruiser.
