Training at Sig Sauer Academy

Hey everyone feel free to use this thread as anything related to the Sig Academy. I have been there once before in early summer of 2016 for their carbine 102 class it was a one day (8hrs) course covering topics such as point of aim point of impact, nomenclature, zeroing, reloads, clearing malfunctions, and other assorted drills. I will be headed back very shortly for the 2 day (16hrs) defensive carbine class. I am hoping to step up my shooting and take my skills with this platform to another level. I have also been looking at some of their force on force training and their shoot houses. Cant wait to get back to a free state and to check out that pro shop!

I believe they will let you use a gun (rental?) if you dont have exactly what you need!
I have looked into going there for some time, but timing has not worked out yet.
the classes do fill or sell out, so plan ahead!

Yes most gun rentals or loaners are included in the price of class. I have not taken a pistol class there YET, but from what i understand they have a very healthy selection of loaners. Ammo of course is not included but can be bought there as needed for a reasonable price. Some of the guys in my 102 class brought their own rifles but used loaner regular capacity mags because they were from slave states

yea i was going to ask about having to use Frangible ammo.
what the deal with that?

I contacted the training director with that exact question and for the classes i have taken/plan to take, she told me frangible was not necessary.

I believe last time I went, it was something like $14 per box of 50 9mm rounds. Not outrageous, plus it's pretty nice Sig branded stuff

I took Pistol 102 and 103 as well last year Jan/Feb timeframe. As indoors required to use frangible so no lead concerns. Don't recall the frangible being overly expensive but you can always bring your own if you can find some on sale. Classes were terrific - by end of day we were cutting the cardboard targets in half from the side.

Sig Academy is definitely on my short list. Good to know they run classes in the winter as it is my slow time at work. Maybe this year...

its easy for me because i have friends that live reasonably close to there, so i dont need a hotel, but i do know that they have a corporate rate with some of the surrounding hotels

With enough of us we can arrange private classes. I could expect that i could do 4 or 5 classes a year for now.

Just so you're aware, the pro shop is already marked down 20% because they assume you're a student. So if you're looking at a $40 item, don't think it's going to ring up as $32.

I know a guy who did something similar. I forget the details, but it was a multi-day, 1 on 1 class. At one point his gun had a serious issue, and their armorer fixed it for free. He said everyday was awesome, but everynight he just collapsed in bed. Ran him something like $4000, but he said it was totally worth it

I spent 2 days up there last year taking their Pistol 2 & 3 classes. It's a long drive so if you can get there the night before it's well worth it. I used my M&P9 the first day - many people bring non-Sig products and no one bats an eye. On my second day I used a Sig P320 compact and thought it was terrific. I'm not kidding when I say that if I didn't already love my M&P I would have bought one. If there's a Sig you want to try they'll hook you up with pistol, holster and mag carrier for the day no charge.
