Transferring firearms

Whats up guys, new to the sight and had a question that hopefully one of the members would have some insight on. I’m in Staten Island NYC and have 3 handguns on my premise permit, in a little over a year I will be moving to Texas. What has to be done on the nyc end to cancel permit and transfer weapons?

Looks like you need a TX permit to conceal carry. App requires 6 month residence in TX. Best to familiarize yourself with TX requirements to get squared away before you tell NYC to stuff it.

When I moved down here from NYS, the PP clerk and I had a rather "spirited" conversation after she realized they made a mistake on my last permit amendment. I proceeded to tell her that it was going to be kind of tough for me to "stop on by" as I now live out of state. She then proceeded to ask me how I moved my handguns to my new home. I told her I just took them with me. She then said; "WHY you can't just do that!! You need to send them from a NYS FFL to an FFL where you now live"! :ROFL:
I advised her she was wrong, and told her I asked my local Sheriff what I need to do to bring them down here. His exact words; "just bring 'em on down". To which she says (you ain't gonna believe this shit!!!); "WELLLL, he doesn't understand NYS's laws"! I advised her that he REALLY doesn't give a shit about the bullshit NYS laws. She then tells me I need to send my NYS permit back to the county PP office, via certified mail, and that I needed to let them know the address I now have my handguns at!! I told her; "yea, you just wait for that letter, and be sure to check the mail daily, ... it's on it's way"!!:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

SO basically what I am saying is, fuck NYC and NYS!! As long as where you are moving to doesn't require your registering YOUR handguns, then tell those fuckers to fuck off! It is none of their business WHAT you did with YOUR legally owned property!!

I would say just take them with you and give NYS and NYC a HUGE:

As per federal law, "FOPA" you are legal to transport your firearms from one state to another as long as you are legal in each state.

You are legal in NYC and Texas.

I thought in NYC with a premises permit you have to get the pistol god #1PP there to give you permission to take them out of the house just to go to the range ..

you might just have to end up leaving them there for the next renter LOL ..

You do because if they find out they can revoke your permit. But if you're leaving, who the hell cares? You are covered under FOPA.

but will he be traveling thru states that need PP's .. he technically has none .. would be like gun running .. ..

I would say better off to mail them to the destination if that's possible .. then pick them up there ..

"You are covered under FOPA." didn't work out for that lady in NY stopping at a FFL to sell her out of state legal guns for gas $$$ a yr or 2 ago ..

Because she stopped. FOPA specifically says that the trip has to be continuous. So if you drive through New Jersey without stopping for example, you are good. At Virginia you can stop since you don't need a permit to own. You can start your trip again the next day and be covered from Virginia to the next state that legal.

Just make sure your car ...All lights working properly and the like and your driving habits ... No coasting through stops Obey speed limits ... things the southern police folks love writing tickets to Yankees ... Nothing to attract attention... and you are good to go...

As a poster above has suggested, considered sending the firearms ahead. And (hate to say this too) after your move notify the city and send them whatever documentation you may have that you are legal.
I only say this because years ago I moved north from Suffolk County, did all the permit stuff first in Schenectady, then Schoharie. Several years later I got a letter that had an old address (how it even found me is a wonder)...the letter was from Suffolk. They stated that they knew I had handguns, and my Suffolk permit was expired. Long story short, the other counties never notified Suffolk and Suffolk ended up issuing a bench warrant. I busted some balls, sent Suffolk a copy of my permit and all is well. NOT worth the hassle. Cover your bases, protect yourself, do not give them any reason to harass you down the road.

Things suck. It will get worse.

Forgot to mention that I have ccw for Virginia and Arizona which covers me for the bulk of the US, so I guess Ill just go and let them cancel my premise permit when it expires!

This is how I did it. I just loaded my legally owned personal property (my guns!!), and headed down the road. EF NYS!! There is absolutely NOTHING they can legally do to me when I come back there to visit. I just don't bring a gun with me!

I put guns in vehicle, obeyed all T+VL on the way to N.C. Didn’t need anyone’s damn permission in NY to transport my legally owned firearms.
No registration in N.C., come on down, enjoy.
NC recognizes any state permit, all 50.

NC is cheaper to live in. Property taxes are very low, much cheaper than N.C. GAS taxes somewhat lower(some of the best prices in all 50).
SC, like NC, outside the major cities and towns is very red neck. Not that it’s a big deal if one likes that.
Myrtle Beach is way overcrowded and the spillover is affecting once rural areas just to the south, like Georgetown and Muriel’s inlet. Greenville SC is a great area to live in, city amenities with great suburban areas, or rural acreage if you want. The mountains are nearby, but the ocean not so much if you like the beach.
NC taxes pensions and socIal security, SC does not.
NC is getting overrun somewhat by progressives. I may think about booking to SC myself.

You can stop, people need to go to the bathroom, eat a meal etc. No law states you need to stay in your car for 10 hrs. You,cannot walk into a gun store to sell a pistol. Well maybe in N.C. you can.
