What we can do is apply the same type of medicine to both. In other words, before you may cast a ballot you need to undergo background investigations and a test to certify that you have studied the candidates and what they stand for. Can't pass the test - can't vote. Seems fair.

On the one hand, anarchy as you have 12 people run for one office- with whoever wins winning by very small margins; on the other, because of the structure of our political system, parliament-style coalitions won't work well (or perhaps we'd be seeing national elections constantly as coalitions fall apart).

So for the 10 years I paid taxes out of my ass (including pass thru real estate tax via rent) I should not have been allowed to vote while I was a renter?

No, the rights are *not* guaranteed equally.

RKBA has always been universal. RKBA is a pre-existing natural right that is *protected* by the constitution.

Voting is an artifical right *created* by the constitution as part of it's structure of governance.

Voting has been restricted to a small subset of adults for most of our history.

I'd be perfectly fine going back to "only land owners can vote".

The only restriction on RKBA should be "young children can't have weapons until their parents think they're ready."

The 2 party system has never been desirable.

It is an unfortunate side effect of the way our government is structured.

The only ways to reduce it's effect come with their own often worse side effects.

Political parties in general are an unfortunate side effect of democracy.

We should have a third party of Independents that should be allowed to vote in primary elections. Then again, I suppose there isn't nearly enough of them to count to make any difference in primary elections. Independents should be allowed to vote in primarys, period. You want to have political parties, fine, but they should not be exclusive to any membership. In fact, the american voter should always have the status of "independent", regardless of which way an individual tends to vote. I mean, our elections are supposed to be by secret ballot, yet we are set up where we have people registered for a political party. While this obviously does not necessarily mean a person will vote for the party they are registered as, this would certianly help avoid some election fraud by not identifying one voter as typically "for this party or that". It would keep all votes secret.

When you vote, don't ever vote R or D. Vote independent or green. Yes, it makes no difference who you vote for in the end, but someone someplace must be keeping track of votes by party. Local elections seem to sometimes have a different person on I or G lines. National or state wide not so much. Still bummed I could not vote for Perot since I was not old enough to vote. My vote this year will be a write in most likely. Hopefully they allow that.
