12 or 20 gauge? What amount is breaking the bank?

preferably 12, my brother needs the extra shot ha ha, he's getting better but no where near ready for a small frame gun. Something I want to keep here when he comes up for the summer. I've tried to convince him of a 20, so I wouldn't rule it out as he's getting close to pushing 70. Price wise $500-1000. He's started shooting trap a couple months ago and is using an Ithaca 300 semi but is convienced he needs a trap gun. I'm thinking peer pressure to a dedicated trap gun and that's fine. I'm a redneck and used to hold my own with an old Model 12 Heavy Duck Gun (30"/Full) on trap, even won a few chicken shoots in Wisconsin with a Model 12 (28"/Mod). Need to drag out my new to me Model 12 in 20ga/Mod and give that a try, as I haven't shot skeet or trap for close to 20 years now, and picked up an electric thrower to giver it a try, I'm sure I'll be humbled. go to trapshooters.com classifieds. A lot of high end stuff for sale there, but if you watch long enough you might see something around the upper end of your limit.
