Traveling through New Jersey with guns.

Hello,
I have a couple of questions.
1st. I'm traveling from Yonkes NY to Plains PA. I'd like to take my guns with me. The shortest route is to cross the GW bridge then take the I 95 S to I 80 W, all the way to my destination. That means I have to go through NJ. Can Iegally travel through NJ. And if so. How?
Btw. I know I can take 87 N to I 84W to avoid NJ. But it takes longer because of road construction.

And 2nd. A friend of mine told me about Gun for Hire. A shooting range in NJ that allows people to TOUCH a gun, and even weapons of war such as AR 14s... (I know it's AR15 but some politicians are clowns). without having to get a licence first. Can I take my guns to that range?

Just lock your guns up in your trunk, separate from the ammo, also in a locked container and be done with it.

Drive safely. No drinking. Pay attention to the freaks out on the road. Oh and try to do the speed limit. Be as "normal" as you can be/fit in.

It's just not worth it imo. Plenty of law abiding people have got jammed up traveling through the belly of the beast.

If you have at least a month until the trip, get a FID card. Or go around.

If you do go through NJ without the ID card, DO NOT stop anywhere. Not the range, not anywhere.

Interesting fact: NY is the only state in which you cannot touch a handgun w/o a license. Even in the store.

I will, however, be eventually bringing handguns to a range in NJ, as part of the CCW application process. Print everything out about the class, including the class schedule and confirmation of appointment for the class. Then it's fine. Unloaded guns locked in trunk, no hollowpoints, FID card and paperwork stored with the gun.

It can be done. Lock all the components up in their own containers. It's good idea is not to carry any ammo at all. (Dam sure no Hollow Points or anything close to them!) Buy it when you get to where you're going. You'll also be going going through part of NYC, I'd watch my ass there more so than Jersey. I'll guess and say that you're not legal to carry until you get to PA? Yup, be a good citizen, check your cars lights before heading out, use turn signals, watch your speed.... I think I'm gonna follow your advice. After thinking about it. I rather drive the extra 25 to 30 minutes going around NJ. Than becoming a felon.

And ain't that crazy? You cant touch a gun. Not even in the store. How that fuck are you supposed to know if you like the gun or not if you can try it first? This is clown world

That's why I'm just going to avoid going through NJ. Not because of NJ itself. But because of NYC..... I have a full carry NYS and PA licenses and I cant go to fucking NYC.. like I said before. Clown world.

do whatever you want. but do the following
1) make damn sure EVERY light on you vehicle works, including any 'marker lights' back-up lights ( make sure they are NOT on, unless backing up) or side lights
2) Licence, registration, insurance & and inspection, are up to date
3) do not speed, use your seatbelt, no distracted driving ( turn the phone off)
4) whatever do, DO NOT CRASH. or let anyone crash into you.
5) if you can help it, do not stop. If you stop for gas, it's illegal for you to pump your own, a gas station attendant must pump it for you. Keep anything of value out of site.
6) If you do get pulled over, be polite, do not consent to any searches, period

You CAN drive through NYC but their rules state like so many ohers, that the gun needs to be in a locked container, unloaded, ammo stored separately, and the trip must be continuous and uninterrupted.

Avoid it. If you go through Jersey as mentioned hollow point ammunition is illegal.

Lock guns away in the trunk, drive with the flow of traffic, don’t stand out, don’t stop until PA. I’ve driven that way thousands and thousands of times both in commercial vehicles and personal, with firearms and without. It’s not a long drive really.

Or, go the long way around and run 17 up to 84 over to Scranton-Wilkes Barre… you get into free country sooner that way.
