I 100% disagree with this. Our military should not be acting on our soil. This is scary business honestly.

I know what you mean, but if they are to repel an invasion, and it's arguably and invasion, how are they supposed to do that without acting on our soil? I'd be more concerned if they were being used in cities or creating check points between states. On our national border is more appropriate.

It's the National Guard which job is to protect the Nation. It isn't the Ranger Regiment or the Marines who's job is to do it oversees.

Nowhere there does it say that it's a Branch of the Armed Forces. The National Guard is controlled by an individual State Governor unless activated into Active Service in which case each individual State National Guard unit would integrate into the Regular Army.
So it isn't a Branch of the Armed Forces.

From what I have gathered over the years is our fed gov was put into power for 2 things.
1 Protect our borders.
2 Keep our states unionized.
Bout time something is being done right.
I have also learned recently that the MP are authorized and actually the only police that can arrest a gov politician, judge, etc. for treason.

Initially the National Guard was formed for each state to have for their emergency needs. Somewhat of a state controlled militia.
I don't see a "major" problem if Trump asks the Governors of the states of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona to utilize their nation guard for help.
I under the dangers of having a Federal "standing army" to do this job of protecting our southern boarders from this South American invasion horde.

It isn't it own separate branch like you are saying no matter how much you try to spin it. And once activated by the Federal Government, each particular unit integrates into the Army rather than operating on its own as a separate branch.

And policing it's citizens with a standing army compared to protecting the border against non-citizens are two different things.

Not spinning anything.From a civilian point of view,as mine is,its part of the military,a military reserve,"a branch of the military",maybe not technically,but for want of a better term,a branch.In any event I dont care if he sends the Army or the National Guard or the Marines,somebody is finally taking a stand on our borders and thats a good thing.
