If you read the preface to "Boots on the Ground: The History of Project Delta" he gives interesting numbers, at the time of publication (2010) that the number of people claiming to have been in Vietnam was greater by far, figuring deaths, than the real total that served. I am not a vet so not really sure if I can comment here, but Trump has been pushing for the vets ever since he threw his hat in the ring. I can only hope that he goes through with the support he said he has for them.
I would think as a vet I would want to ally with Trump and push to make sure that he does fullfill on his promise. But as I said I'm not a vet so I don't know if there are other underlying motive's.
